Professional profile
Docent Andrej Šteňo is a renowned neurosurgeon. He completed his education at the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Bratislava and at the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava. He developed his erudition in the field through many study stays at prestigious workplaces abroad, including the neurosurgery department of the University Hospital in Vienna, the neurosurgery department of the Albany Medical Center in the USA, the neurosurgery department of the University Hospital Erlangen in Germany, the neurosurgery department of the Helsinki University Hospital in Finland and the pediatric department surgery, orthopedics and traumatology of the Brno University Hospital in the Czech Republic.
Docent Andrej Šteňo currently works as the head of the Neurosurgery Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University and the University Hospital in Bratislava. Before that, he worked at the Department of Pediatric Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine, UK and NÚDCH. The docent is a member of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, the BTB Commission of the Oncological Institute of St. Alžbety, the Slovak Medical Society, the Slovak Neurosurgical Society and the Slovak Medical Chamber.
Docent Šteňo also received many scientific awards from the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic as the leader of the scientific and technical team. For his work, he was awarded the prize of the Czech and Slovak Neurosurgical Society for the best Czech and Slovak neurosurgical publication of the year.
Docent Šteňo is the author of numerous scientific publications and actively participates in prestigious medical conferences at domestic and international professional events. He is a member of the editorial boards of professional journals (World Neurosurgery, Neurosurgical Review, Czech and Slovak Neurology and Neurosurgery) and commissions for awarding research grants in the Slovak Republic.
