Professional profile
MUDr. Ladislav Sopko, PhD., MPH., is an experienced hematologist with extensive
experience in the field of hematology and transfusion. He currently works as a representative
head of the Department of Hematology and Transfusion of the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University
(LFUK), Slovak Medical University (SZU) and University Hospital Bratislava
(UNB). He actively participates in clinical and organizational activities at the clinic.
Dr. Sopko began his medical career by obtaining the title MUDr. at the Faculty of Medicine
Comenius University in Bratislava. During his studies, he showed a deep interest in hematology, which
determined his future specialization. He started his professional practice as a secondary doctor at the Clinic
of hematology and transfusion, where he devoted himself to therapeutic and preventive activities and obtained valuable
experience in the care of patients with hematological diseases. Title
doctor of philosophy (PhD) in the field he received at the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in year

Since 2021, he has been working as the Deputy Head of the clinic, where, in addition to the curative and preventive
also performs managerial and organizational activities. His work includes not only the care of
patients with various hematological disorders, but also the Clinic’s management and organization
a team of medical professionals. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Sopko is also dedicated to scientific research
and participates in the education of future doctors and specialists in the field of hematology.
In 2012, he completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University,
where he was engaged in research in the field of hematology. He received further education in 2022, when
he completed his studies in the field of public health and received the title of MPH (Master of Public
Health). These experiences allow him to effectively combine clinical practice with management and
health care organization.
dr. Sopko is known for his individual approach to patients and emphasis on the latest
medical knowledge and procedures in the treatment of hematological diseases. His expertise and
experience ranks him among the leading specialists in the field of hematology and transfusion at
Slovakia.
Doctor Sopko is also a member of the Slovak Hematology Society
