Professional profile
Professor Pavol Žúbor is a renowned consultant obstetrician, gynecologist, but above all an oncogynecologist and mammologist. He is an internationally recognized expert in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant diseases of the breast, cervix and body of the uterus, ovary/fallopian tube and external female genital organs. At the same time, he is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of high-risk conditions in pregnancy, the treatment of urological complications associated with incontinence and pelvic floor disorders, the treatment of uterine fibroids and endometriosis. Professor Pavol Žúbor completed his medical education at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Martin. During his clinical practice, he completed long-term work and study stays at prestigious clinics and universities abroad (e.g. Switzerland – Zurich; Germany – Berlin, Leipzig; Italy – Milan; Spain – Barcelona; Hungary – Budapest; Sweden – Stockholm; Norway – Oslo; Brazil – Recife; Scotland – Dundee)
Professor Pavol Žúbor was the head of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of JLF UK and UNM in Martin. In recent years, he has been working abroad as a consultant in several hospitals in Norway (National Cancer Institute in Oslo; hospital Narvik, Stokmarknes, Gjøvik, Leknes, Namsos, Stord, Flekkefjord, Sandnessjøen) as well as in private clinics in Norway and Slovakia. Professor Pavol Žúbor was a member of several advisory committees and commissions at the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic, and is an active member of many domestic and foreign professional state and scientific societies. In 2015, he was appointed by President Andrej Kiska as a professor of gynecology and obstetrics (the youngest in Slovakia at that time) and is the only holder of the title “Doctor of Sciences” in the field of gynecology and obstetrics in Slovakia.
Professor Pavol Žúbor was the main investigator of many domestic and foreign research grants financed by VEGA, APVV agencies as well as European funds. He trained 5 PhD students and published in renowned, important foreign journals including Lancet, Journal of Clinical Oncology and Cancers.
Professor Žúbor has extensive national and international experience in research, supervision and evaluation of scientific projects, including evaluation commissions of the EU (Horizon 2020, IER HE-MSCA) and Qatar Research Agency. He has been an invited speaker at many scientific conferences around the world. He also appeared on national television on channels such as RTVS, TA3, JOJ, Markíza. He is an editor and reviewer in many prestigious foreign scientific journals. The professional erudition and scientific excellence of Professor Žúbor is confirmed by a high Hirsh index (24) and more than 1,700 citations in world professional journals.
